THE PIKLER TRIANGLE

The Pikler Triangle is a climbing frame for children designed according to the Montessori method. It is made of wood and is triangular when opened. Our Pikler Triangle is easy to fold and practical to put away, which is important, especially in smaller living spaces. The Pikler Triangle serves as an aid for toddlers to learn motor skills at their own pace through free movement and continuous play.

The optimal age for a child to start climbing the Pikler Triangle is one year. Firstly, they learn to lift up on it, try to stand next to it, crawl under it, and circle around it. Eventually, they start climbing on it and climb over it. In this way, they explore and learn about their body's abilities, build strength and balance, develop flexibility, speed and improve their coordination by using different muscle groups.

The board is also particularly useful, serving as a slide in both directions - downwards as a slide, and upwards as a ramp to be conquered by upward climbing. The height of the ramp is adjustable, as the board can be placed on any of the poles to vary the incline and hence the difficulty for the child.

Later, when the child grows in self-awareness, the Pikler Triangle can be used as a tent. A flat, soft base is placed under the triangle and a blanket or other cover is spread over it, allowing children to play hide and seek or other similar games. It is designed for children up to 5 years of age.
Our Pikler Triangle is made of natural materials and is constitutes therefore the child's first physical encounter with wood. That is why it is recommended that the triangle is not exposed to outside conditions (such as moisture), which could affect the wood's properties. If desired, it can be coated with wood oil. It is made for indoor use.

The dimensions of the upright Pikler Triangle are 107 cm in width (when extended); 74,5 cm in height; and 84 cm in width at the crosspieces. The dimensions of the slide are 100 cm x 40 cm. Material: the frame and the slide are made of plywood and the crosspieces are made of beech wood. When the children outgrow the Triangle, it can be sold or passed on to another child.

Our Pikler Triangle is manufactured to all required safety standards, tested in the laboratory, and CE certified by the Faculty of Biotechnology. Mind you, it is very rare to find CE-certified Pikler Triangles on the market, as the Triangles are mostly made by local craftsmen without any regard for standards and safety testing.
